Guiding and empowering your dog to make positive choices through training, play, and love.

At The Well Read Dog, we aim to empower both dog owners and their pets through personalized in-home training. We specialize in using positive reinforcement techniques to help dogs reach their full potential and form a strong bond with their humans. Our goal is to help create trust and a harmonious relationship with each dog and their human.

About Me

My name is Erika Gregorian and I am currently the lead and soul trainer for The Well Read Dog. I am a graduate and certified dog trainer through the Victoria Stilwell Academy for Dog Training and Behavior. I am also certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers as well as Fear Free Certified. I specialize in helping people get started off on the right foot with their dogs, assisting in problem behaviors and working with special needs dogs.

I started my training journey almost 14 years ago when I got my first dog, Josephine. It wasn’t until 2015 that I was able to begin working with dogs professionally, though. I managed a dog walking and pet sitting company in Manhattan, KS for 3 years before moving to training full time. I have worked with clients through private training and group training classes as well as extensive behavior modification within a shelter environment here in Kansas City. I have earned a diversified set of knowledge and am excited to share my experience with the dogs, and their people, of Kansas City.

I currently share my life with a husband, one double-merle Australian Shepherd and 2 cats.

Meet Our Pups

Josephine

Josephine was our first dog and the one that started it all. Her intelligence, loyalty and love lit a fire inside of me to begin searching for information on the best training and nutritional practices. She had an old soul with a lot of love to give. She is my “why.” A Josephine shaped hole opened in my heart the day she passed, November 17th, 2022.

Millicent

We adopted Millicent about a year and a half after Josephine. Little did I know, but she would teach me even more than Josephine would. She was my more challenging to potty train and even more intelligent than Josephine - for most things that is. Her and Josephine were thick as thieves their whole lives. Millicent left us September 4th, 2022. Leaving behind a great void for all of us.

Matilda

Matilda is our youngest and most challenging dog. She is a double - merle Australian Shepherd. She is completely deaf and has limited vision as her eyes and pupils did not form properly. She has taught me a lot about living, loving and working with a dog that is anxious and reactive, among other behavioral challenges. She has also given us a lot of love and laughs along the way!
